stand up bass or electric bass

i like stand up bass because there different

I like the actual sound of stand up bass more, but electric bass is more verstatile in popular music, so I guess that wins.

Ultimatley, I'd choose electric. It's more versatile and much easier to play. Other than the tone from a stand-up bass (which can be re-created by a fretless bass) the only thing that is really better is the slapping. And let's not forget that the only reason slapping was there was to take place of a drummer, and if you are playing electric bass you most likely have a drummer. And if you don't, I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could get a slap recreation
