Re: Screaming?
I tried screaming once. It hurt my vocal cords / throat and felt very unnatural. Needless to say I very highly doubt I will 'scream' again.

I think that a good vocalist you can actually understand brings more emotion into a song, how can you express different emotions by doing something which sounds so angry and aggressive?

Re: Screaming?
^this.
It's probably my different taste above all, but more melodic singers have way more emotion in their voice compared to screamers. With normal singers, there are usually way more variations in dynamics, tone etc, but a lot of screaming is just RRAGH RAHGGH RAJKAJKJFW! And that doesn't translate into emotion in my book.

Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth growls very very well and is an excellent singer both growl and clean. He really incorparates it well into his songs and it fits the mood of the song well when used.
I also think that Mohammed Suicmez from Necrophagist has a great growling voice. Yeah it may seem pointless but it suits the style of music. Someone like James La Brie or James Hetfield wouldn't sound right in a Necrophagist or any death metal song.
